Regulations for hemp distribution and sale, change frequently and vary across states. The confusion created from the constantly changing regulations, has made it difficult for businesses to maintain the proper paperwork and operate within legally required procedures. In addition to this, the departments entrusted with enforcing hemp regulations, have not been handling issues involving irregular hemp distribution and sale in an appropriate manner. Many businesses have suffered criminal charges due to the improper handling of cases by law enforcement. Instead of addressing the cases of improper hemp distribution and sale as regulatory issues, enforcing departments have displayed that they much rather arrest and seize products, than ensure that businesses are knowledgeable of the proper practice for hemp sale and distribution.

There has been an increase in criminal cases involving hemp across the United States since it’s rise in popularity. Hemp business owners are finding it difficult to grow their business with the fear and constant threat of these type of problems. It is clear there needs to be a set standard across states for hemp distribution and sale, however there have not been any noticeable moves towards more unified hemp regulations across states.
